 Happy Anniversary!

You've touched and changed the lives of many souls around you.  From friends and family, below are over 75 people who you've touched and who care about you.  This is a reminder that there are many more.

Thank you for all that you have done and all you've been to those around you.  We're better for it and love and appreciate you always.

Connie Jeanne & Clyde Larsen

Dear Friends -

We both have celebrated our 50th Anniversary this year.  And - it is almost that long that we have been closely connected.  Our children have grown up together.  They attended the same schools - Lowell EQUIP, South High ELP, and West High ELP/IB.  We made some incredible memories as we progressed together to make all of this happen.

Lorna, you are such a stalwart.  You have been ever ready to help in every situation.  I value your friendship and your many talents.   You have the ability to search out answers and then work tirelessly until the task is completed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family - forever!

Best wishes - Clyde and Connie Jeanne Larsen

Glen and Lorna,

We have admired you two ever since we first met David. We marvel at your commitment to your children. Every time we have gone to a school event, recital, or family activity for our grandkids, we have found you there too. Knowing that we have missed some of these events has stessed us out a little but we are comforted knowing that you two have been there to support our grandchildren. Most of what we know about you two has been because we know David. David is not afraid to tackle any project no mattter what it is. We have seen him completely rebuild a car, make additions to his home and take on construction projects with no construction background. I am sure that he got that courage in his ability to do anything he wants from you, Glen.

He has taken an interest in teaching his children skills from languages and math to violin and has taught all of his children to desire to learn and take joy in the learning process. We see that coming from your lifelong devotion to education, Lorna.

We are approaching the same milestone as you are. We know the effort it is to balance family and work through difficult and challenging times. You have been an example to us of the difference love can make in overcoming challenges and the joy that is found in a good gospel foundation. Your son David is one of the most remarkable people in the world. We are so happy to be a part of your family through him and so grateful that you raised him to be such a good man for our daughter and grandchildren.

We want to wish you the best of times on this special day. You are only beginning your eternal journey. We love you both.

We have a lot of fond memories of the two of you, being your home teacher, being with you in the ward, and all your phone calls letting us know about people in the ward. We cherish our activities with you and your sweet family, all the good you have done for everyone in the ward, and your fine example of a loving family. Fifty years went by fast, didn't it? We love you! Happy 50 years together, Tpm

I have always been impressed with how dedicated you are to the gospel and in helping others. Your children have been a great example of the parents that raised them and the love the family shares.

I loved being your visiting teacher for those many years and knew I could trust you to do anything that was asked. You have been a great example of love to your fellow man, neighbors and friends.

I hope you have many more wonderful years together. Love you both!!

Congratulations, Lorna & Glen!  I greatly appreciate all that you have done for your family over the years.  I am so grateful that you both encouraged your children's love of learning, and that you taught them the importance of hard work and service.  Thank you for the countless times you have been there for our family, from addressing car issues over the phone to flying down here to help after Spencer was born.  We love you both! Happy 50th anniversary!!

One of my favorite childhood memories was going to visit cousins on family vacations.  It was always fun to see Aunt Lorna and Uncle Glen and they were always so kind and welcoming.  I don’t know how we fit so many children in the home (or in the tent in the backyard) but we did and loved it!  Happy anniversary!

Beth Packard

Congratulations to you for fifty years of marriage.

May you have many more happy years together.

Angie Landon

I have watched this family from the perspective of one who came in after the kids were all “raised,” and I am always impressed at the parents who took the time to give their kids the best education while fitting in extras like violin, car repair, and home maintenance.

Lorna spent hours deeply involved in school to help her children be the best they can be.  This family has learned to stick together, to put family high on their list of priorities, to serve.  Ryan and Steven, though far away, always make the sacrifices necessary to remain a real part of the family.  Lisa has learned from her mother to care about the people around her and keep up with them and their needs.

Your children love the gospel and have all learned what is right.  They knew from their parents how important it was to keep the commandments. You remain there for your kids always.  Kara has needed you recently, and you were there for her. We all know that if our car breaks down, Glen will know what to do.  David is loving and thoughtful, and tries always to follow in his parents' footsteps.  He cares for the children, teaches them violin and home maintenance, and is deeply interested in their education and helping them get where they need to go.  I know he learned that from you, and tries to be like you.  He follows his father’s example in sharing his knowledge with the children and helping others.

I don’t know how you found the time to focus on each child as you did, but you did and do a wonderful job!  We all love and need you very much.

We love Opa's raspberry bush and his "poisonberry" bush and we like to pick the little apples. They have the best swings. Oma is always thinking of us and likes to give us fruit snacks and chocolate oranges. We like to see everyone at family reunions.

Laura Landon

Favorite memories of Glen and Lorna. Oma would give us recorded tv shows sometimes. Oma brought us advent calendars and came for christmas. Opa knows about cars and violins. Opa's emails to me on my mission are very well thought out and interesting. Oma likes english and books like me. Opa likes math and astronomy like me. Happy 50th.

Thank you for hosting so many wonderful family reunions! My kids have had so much fun meeting their cousins in your back yard. They all talk about the house with the big swing set. Thank you for so many rides to and from the airport and for overnight accommodations right before and after flights. Thank you for giving me so many fun cousins. I love you!!!

Lorna and Glen,

It has been such a privilege knowing you and your family. When we moved into the ward, you were the first to welcome us and have always been such an example to my family.

I wish you many more years together and will always cherish your friendship. Happy 50th Anniversary!

Jonathan Landon

Happy 50th Anniversary!  I’m so lucky to have such wonderful parents!

Dad is such a great example of working hard, even when that means spending night after night in the winter working on a car after a long day at work, lying on the cold street.  He is willing to learn how to fix anything and puts forth the effort to fix it instead of replacing it or hiring someone to do the work.  While working in the garage or yard he often had the white radio atop the freezer tuned to Classical 89.1 FM, and I often think of that radio playing classical music while wishing I could give my daughters the same love of classical music that he gave to me.  I love hearing him play the violin and remember nights hearing him practice after I had gone to bed.  He always has a stack of library books on a variety of subjects that he reads late into the night and when he used to ride the bus across town to work every day he was always reading.  One of my favorite memories was walking down from the Avenues with him after an elementary school performance to catch a bus home at the Social Hall on State Street; I even remember the fare was 65 cents.

Mom is such a great example of being involved in her kids’ lives and making their well-being her top priority, always being involved in schools, volunteering in classrooms, serving on PTA’s and steering committees and pushing kids to get scholarships and go to college.  Her life of service extends beyond her kids and their schooling, being involved in politics with community councils and state nominating delegations.  Her love for the performing arts includes attending and participating in theater productions as well as movies and even watching television shows where people talk about watching movies.  We always knew when Siskel and Ebert came on and the KSL movie show both on television and radio.  She is always keeping in touch with people through telephone and email.  She has a gift of carrying on a conversation that makes people feel comfortable because they know there will always be something to talk about.  In fact, she’s one of Anna’s favorite people to talk to because she always has something interesting to say about everything.  She has an excitement and wonder for the natural world, and a favorite memory was watching a star show at one of Dad’s company open house events where she came away talking about the appreciation it gave her of the phrase “worlds without number”.

Happy 50th Anniversary!

Love,

Jonathan

Lorna and Glen have been stalwarts of our ward and neighborhood as long as we have been here (20 years). They work quietly in the background, never looking for notice or acclaim, just making sure people get the help they need. They are the best neighbors. I love their wedding picture! And here they still are, 50 years later! That’s an Accomplishment!

Three specific things come to mind when I think of Aunt Lorna and Uncle Glen:

1) Birthday cards when I was little--I don't think they missed a single one until I 'outgrew' them.

2) Reunions at their house--I have fond memories of hanging out in the backyard during family get-togethers.

3) Shopping at Jobbers Odd Lot. I remember that store being EPIC--at least for little kids. I don't remember much, other than we went shopping there together as families, and they had just about everything imaginable!

Thanks for all the good times Aunt Lorna & Uncle Glen! Congratulations!

Brother and sister Landon are a true example of love, respect and commitment.  I have known the Landon's for more than fourteen years and have seen the integrity of each one of them as well as the compassionate way they serve the Lord and others.  I love to see them every Sunday and listen to the story of their journey as a couple and family.  Wishing them an eternity of love ❤️ ðŸ’•!!  Congratulations for an amazing and inspiring milestone!!"

Glen and Lorna have, for 34 years, been an example to me and my family of faithful devoted service to the Kingdom of God.  I have learned how to minister by watching them serve others. We are very grateful to have known them. Happy 50th Anniversary.

Glen, Lorna,

Congratulations on fifty years. I most remember my parents somehow convincing you to let us stay with you on trips for reunions where we seemed to end up with four times as many children as rooms in the house. I'm also not sure how it was ever quiet enough to sleep. Hopefully your kids are keeping up the tradition by flooding you with little ones. Congratulations again,

Glen and Lorna,

Happy 50th Anniversary!  It's such an incredible milestone, and one I look forward to celebrating with Krista someday.  I can't express how wonderful it has been to have married into a family that is so full of intelligent, kind, respectful, and loving people.  The two of you have become my dear friends and mentors.  Glen, I've appreciated all the knowledge that you have passed on to me on a variety of topics.  Lorna, I've cherished the long conversations you and I have had at the kitchen table, often while Krista was napping. :D

Your influence in my life has stretched beyond my personal relationships with you.  All of your children have carried on your legacy of kindness and helpfulness.  Each has blessed my life through aid, advice, and friendship.  Of course the greatest impact you have had on my life is through your wonderful daughter, who I thank God every day agreed to be my wife!

I've been thinking recently about the worth of a life well lived and how our actions in life determine the legacy we leave.  The two of you have made many friends with whom you have maintained close relationships over decades.  You've spent your time giving service temporally, emotionally, and spiritually.  You've remained close to your extended family through dozens of reunions.  You've magnified callings throughout the church and changed lives through your various occupations.  Most importantly, you've raised a family full of children and grandchildren that have learned from your examples how to be a positive influence on the world around them.  I hope I will be able to say the same of myself when I have been married for 50 years.

I hope your anniversary and the associated celebrations bring you all the joy you deserve and an opportunity to reflect on 50 years of memories.  I love you both and am grateful that I get to know you and be a part of your family.

50 years! What an amazing accomplishment! It has been fun to see your family grow and move upward and onward and to serve with you both in our little Rose Park ward. What marvelous examples you have been to both Devin and myself. Here’s to 50 more!

Happy 50th Anniversary!

Thank you both for the wonderful example you have been to me, our family, and all those around you! Both of you have made countless sacrifices for your family over the years, and worked so hard to take care of your children. Thank you for your kindness and patience, for believing in us and pushing us to do and be our best, and for always being there for us with your love and support. I appreciated the way dad has helped me with homework, broken watches, car repairs, (fixing anything mechanical), dishes, and kids. He always worked long hours to provide for us, take care of the garden and trees, and serve those who needed help, and he always made time to attend daddy-daughter activities with me.  Mom has always helped me feel loved and cared for as she drove me to all my activities, got me registered and prepared for school and church activities, made delicious meals, and talked with me for hours at a time to work through difficult problems or decisions. She shared her love of reading and watching movies with me, and I loved when she'd take me shopping and running errands with her, when we'd just chat and share quality time together.

I really can't begin to cover all that both of you have done and given me over the years, but one of the things I'm most grateful for is that you not only taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but you exemplified Christlike love and service. Thank you for sharing your testimonies in word and deed, and for always serving others and fulfilling your responsibilities, even when it may have been difficult or dreary.

I remember growing up that there were hundreds of small ways that each of you demonstrated that you were thinking of the happiness of the other. I always knew that each parent honored and respected the other, and you encouraged us to do the same. One of the best pieces of advice that dad gave me when I was getting married is to always give 100 percent in my marriage, and not just expect to meet in the middle with each person giving 50/50. I think giving your all is what has helped your marriage to endure over the last 50 years through joys, sorrows, disappointments, and delights.

Congratulations on 50 years together, and may you have many, many more!

Love,
Krista

Ryan Landon

Happy 50th Anniversary,

I'm grateful for the sacrifice and commitment you have to each other and to your family.  Whether we took outings to the playground at the park or to Disneyland you cared about the people and the experience more than the destination.

When I think of Dad, I think of plants and repairs.  How can I forget pickled beets!?!  Good news, I survived.  I loved the science and the willingness to get dirty and work hard in the garden for tomatoes, beets, peas, green beans, and carrots.  The grass got just as much attention with the hand-cranked fertilizer spreader and watering per the oven timer.  And did he keep that washing machine going?  Yes, that's right--not plural.  In all these years there's only ever been one.  It's been fun watching and participating with repairs on cars, plumbing, roofing, cement, and computers.  But what he couldn't put his hands on he'd learn about from a book whether finance, health, politics, or philosophy.

When I think of Mom, I think of adventures and experiences.  It wasn't about the quality of the food it was the joy of adventure when we got ice cream and marzipan sugar cookies at ZCMI or visited Kara working at Orange Julius.  We thought German specialties were great, but it was the never tarnished novel tastes and smells at Christmas.  And handmade was always best whether homemade birthday invitations on bright orange paper, Tri-chem charts for chores and F.H.E. or Advent for Christmas.  The best home-made achievement was her kids' successes in running for class office, Eagle awards, 4H, school musicals, and capturing it all in thousands of photos.

Both Mom and Dad had unique contributions and it formed a potpourri for seven diverse kids to feel safe and unified.  But I feel like their biggest contribution was their unconditional interest in the people around them in all walks of life.  They continue to be the first to volunteer for things and the last to leave the party.  I remember one time as a missionary I called home for Christmas and my British companion remarked that talking to my mom was as good as being home.  And I remember going out to visit members of our local congregation and feeling like although they were strangers to me, my Dad had never met a stranger.  They have strong testimonies of the Savior's injunction to "Feed My Sheep".

Lots of love, and many more good years to you!

Love,
Ryan

HAPPY, WONDERFUL, SPLENDID ANNIVERSARY to YOU  GLEN and LORNA LANDON!

I think it is time to do some celebrating! Why, with all of those 50 years of togetherness,  experiencing life together, and creating a wonderful family. I am sure that there have been ups and down, laughter, hard work, and some tears. That is part of the whole journey together. Yet you are together and have more things to experience together. I hope you take some time to enjoy each other on this your 50 Anniversary.  Actually I suggest you celebrate for more than a day, do a few things throughout the week, enjoy some time together. It is safe to say you may have to plan the time so it can happen! Block it out, and let some other things go!!

I loved seeing the pictures of your wedding as I received the invitation to this virtual celebration! A fine looking couple with a whole future ahead. In may ways there is still a future ahead.

I know for my family that my Oma enjoyed having your kids visit her. My mom would fill me in, and tell me about the joy associated with the visits. I was in college at that time those visits were happening and on my mission.

Something else I remember,  is being the YW Camp Leader for our ward and Lisa was a new Beehive that year. Just think, she survived me. I also remember getting the new Beehives to go snipe hunting. Sure enough they believed us. It was a good laugh, along with a good adventure, that took place above Ogden in the canyon. We were at a more primitive camp that year.

We have met in the ward house on Redwood Road, and upon my return to Utah, the building here on Starcrest and 9th North. The thing that has stayed the same is your love for the gospel and your willingness to take part in the ward. A gift.

To you, may there be joy and happiness in your hearts and in your living!

Happy 50th!

Totally amazing!

Dear Lorna and Glen:

First, a BIG FIVE-O CONGRATS (not Hawaiian TV drama, not number of birthdays, and not number of states in the Union).  But congratulations on your half-century of life together!  That’s a wonderful milestone.

What?  Fiftieth wedding anniversary?  Can that be?  Your parents barely celebrated theirs (Lorna’s parents had theirs in 1984, and Glen’s must have been around the same time.)

My, but time truly does fly.  Why, it was just the other day when Ellen was but a toddler, and Lorna was just a little girl.  I remember one time when there were some graham crackers on the carpet floor (Ellen had been having a treat), and Mother asked her older daughter to gather up the remains.

Lorna dutifully began tidying up, but soon paused.  “Do I have to pick up the tromps, too?” she asked.  “Tromps?  What are tromps,” queried her mother.  Lorna’s reply was swift.  “They’re the crackers the baby’s tromped on.”  She was advised that, yes, “tromps” should also be gathered up, but they should be tossed in the trash.

Lorna was born shortly before my 12th birthday, and by the time I graduated from high school, and left for BYU—her last birthday cake (in January) had only six candles on it.  Two years later, when I left for Japan, she was eight, and when I returned, she wasn’t quite 11.  I then got married, finished two degrees at the “Y,” headed to Detroit for school, later to Nebraska (where I taught for a year), then returned to BYU and Provo in 1966, and four years later, Lorna became a married lady.

As a result, it all seems a blur—with little tidbits of memories scattered here and there—and the blur continues—as you and Glen lived in Provo for a short time, then Salt Lake, Pocatello, and Germany, before returning to Utah’s Capital City.  With all of those moves, Lorna has been a trooper.  Additionally, she is a talented, involved, and highly motivated individual.

As a youth, unlike Connie, I didn’t have interactions with the Landons.  When I was in high school, I knew Glen’s father, or at least knew of him—since he taught Ag classes at UHS (although I never had a class from him), and I didn’t meet my future brother-in-law until some time later.

I’ve always been impressed with Glen’s knowledge and abilities.  When faced with a technical, mechanical, or other challenges or problems, he always reads up on it, tackles it, and triumphs in the end.  That’s a wonderful attribute.  More importantly, however, the way he treats his wife, relatives, neighbors, and everyone else with whom he comes in contact is a model for us all.

The two of you make a great couple.  You contribute to the Church, community and family.  You are dedicated and serve well, and above all, you have a wonderful family, and a great posterity!  Thanks for being our Sister and Brother!

Congratulations to you both, and in the words of Commander Spock, “Live Long and Prosper!"

Love,
        Karl and Connie

Happy Anniversary, Aunt Lorna & Uncle Glen!

I wish I could remember your wedding, but I guess I was only 2 1/2. I think I've seen pictures of me as a flower girl, though :)

I know you guys had some great adventures in Europe during your early years in marriage. I still have several postcards from you. You've been great to send birthday greetings every year and reach out for other events. I've always looked up to you guys as being very educated and involved in the community and with your family. Fifty years of marriage is a great milestone and something to celebrate! Congratulations, and may you enjoy many more years together!
