Joyce & Darrell Lewis

Happy Anniversary Glen and Lorna, 50 such wishes at least.

When I remember Glen, who is my oldest brother, I only remember a few things while he was younger.  He was a strict drill sergeant when it came to picking peas; we were to keep picking, not miss any pods, and don’t be slow.  It seems he’s always wanted to get the work done.  Over the years he has had lots of tasks to do helping everyone around him, so it went with his personality.  Glen’s had so many people to help, that he may never sleep at night again.  Now it must be known that he wasn’t all work and no play, or nap.  His dry sense of humor would pop up any time; to keep things lively, he’d throw in a joke or two. And a nap could occur at anything because his sleep schedule was erratic. That might explain why when we’d see Lorna, she would often be smiling and shaking her head.

When I remember Lorna, I remember someone who likes to help people because she is a people person.  She’s always friendly, smiling, helpful and caring.   She likes to make sure that everything is taken care of for you in the best way she can. Christmas can come late by a week just so she makes certain that all the presents that she needs to get are just the right one for the right person. Just to help us brothers and sisters get together, Lorna will welcome us into the home, or in a yard, or at the curbside and be willing to talk with us while getting taco soup or a program ready. When we talk on the phone, its always a long conversation. We usually have to hang up before we get through all that we’d like to talk about; that goes for both Lorna and Glen. If I recall it correctly, Lorna was the first one to want a laptop or cell phone; Glen must not be the normal techy-type of person.

Between the two of them, Glen and Lorna have had 50 years of being kind, helpful, and funny with a side of head shaking.  Congratulations for showing us the way.
